Olimpia Milano Loses in Piraeus; Fans Furious Over the Refereeing

Another loss for Olimpia Milano in the EuroLeague: Peppe Poeta’s team was defeated by Olympiacos in Piraeus in the game counting toward the ninth round of the regular season. For the Milanese, it’s their seventh consecutive loss in the continental competition.
On social media, fans are bitter and resigned, but also furious over the officiating in Greece: “I’m just asking, but playing in the EuroLeague with referees like this—don’t you feel like you’re being taken for a ride?”, “In Athens, you have to win by 15 to even have a chance at overtime,” “Embarrassing officiating,” “The refs in the third quarter swung the game in the Greeks’ favor,” “66–60: Their flagrant foul was called a regular one. 66-61: A blatant foul on Cole went uncalled, followed immediately by a three-pointer.”
But there are also those who aren’t looking for excuses: “We look like the Virtus guys. If you’re stronger, you win,” “We played against half of Olympiacos and lost—end of story.”
The game’s top scorers were Miller-McIntyre with 24 points and Vezenkov with 23. For EA7, Cole led the way with 17 points.
