Juventus: Luciano Spalletti Stays the Course—Clear Words on His Present and Future with the Bianconeri

No intention of backing down, no excuses, and no beating around the bush. On the eve of the extremely delicate home match against Napoli, scheduled for Sunday at 8:45 p.m. at the Stadium, Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti appeared in the press conference room to answer all the reporters’ questions, without shying away from those regarding his situation, which is considered precarious following the heavy defeat suffered against Genoa.

When asked to assess the support he’d received from management in recent hours, the Bianconeri coach responded candidly, shifting the focus from personal matters to the objective need for a response on the field: “This kind of question is a bit provocative,” Spalletti stated. “I don’t need to live in a bubble. I’m used to difficult moments, and I don’t need confidence from above—I need a reaction from the team. I don’t ask the impossible of my players.”

The coach from Certaldo took a clear stance, aiming to dispel any doubts on the eve of a season-defining showdown. Ahead of the match against Napoli, Spalletti reiterated his desire to celebrate his first year on the Bianconeri bench in the best possible way: “We’ve followed our path; of course, we’re not satisfied right now because our task is to get Juventus back on track. We have to go out and reclaim the respect that some have taken away from us—we can only do that by getting back to winning.”

Born in 1959 and coaching since 1993, Luciano Spalletti arrived at Juventus on October 30, 2025, replacing the sacked Igor Tudor. At the end of his first season with Juventus, he missed out on a Champions League spot by finishing sixth in the league, while after nine matchdays of the 2026–2027 Serie A season, he is tied for seventh place with Napoli at 14 points, just on the eve of the match against the Neapolitans coached by another great former player making an appearance tonight, Massimiliano Allegri.
