Jannik Sinner is blunt about his autobiography

At the age of 25, Jannik Sinner is already the greatest Italian tennis player of all time. The Italian has won five Grand Slam tournaments and two Davis Cups, and has also won every Masters 1000 event on the circuit (the first to do so at such a young age). There’s certainly enough material for an autobiography, from his early days to his triumph at Wimbledon, but Sinner himself was adamant on the subject in an interview.

“An autobiography? I’m not even thinking about it,” he replied bluntly to *La Repubblica*. “I know Serena Williams, Sharapova, Agassi, McEnroe, Nadal, and Borg have written them. But I’m still young; I prefer shots to words. Maybe we’ll talk about it again in 20 years,” explained the South Tyrolean.

“I want to last, to have a long career. Now I’ve had to stop and look beyond the lines, but I want to bring my focus back to the ball. I know there’s more out there, but my world is right there—in that rectangle called tennis.”

With today’s ATP ranking update, Monday, November 2, Sinner cedes the top spot to Alexander Zverev, bringing to a close his third reign as No. 1, which began on April 13 when he overtook Carlos Alcaraz. Previously, the Italian had held the top spot from June 10, 2024, to September 7, 2025, and from November 3 to 9, 2025. For the German, this is his first time ever at the top—a milestone that had eluded a German tennis player for more than thirty-five years, since the days of Boris Becker in 1991.

Meanwhile, Sinner is preparing for a technical shift. Starting in 2027, Magnus Norman—former world No. 2 and former coach of Stan Wawrinka—will join Simone Vagnozzi, taking over from Darren Cahill. According to reports in *Corriere della Sera*, the meeting with Sinner took place in Monte Carlo in the presence of Cahill himself, who reportedly recommended the Swede. Brad Gilbert approved the choice: “I think it’s an excellent choice for Jannik. He could potentially stay with him for a long time, and he’s someone who’s easy to get along with.”
