Chaos at Ferrari: Lewis Hamilton posts another message against Charles Leclerc. Alesi takes both drivers to task

The clash between Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc continues to dominate the headlines in Maranello following the events of the Mexican Grand Prix. The two battled for the lead at the start and ended up playing into the hands of Max Verstappen, who went on to win the race. Hamilton believes he’s in the right, and even two days later on Instagram, he reiterated his stance.
“It hurts so much to have lost what could have been a victory. We have to be able to seize every opportunity that comes our way: it’s an extremely frustrating situation—there’s no point in denying it. I know full well what it takes to create the conditions for such opportunities—the standards the team sets for itself, the ones I demand of myself, and the ones the fans expect from us: everyone deserves to see us at our best and to see us win. We’re here to compete, and we want the win.”
“Fighting is necessary, but when a battle ends up hurting the team, we have to be honest and learn from our mistakes. We can push each other to the limit while still honoring the responsibility we have to everyone who has allowed us to take to the track. I’ll continue to give it my all; my confidence in the team remains unchanged.”
Former Ferrari driver Jean Alesi was very critical of both drivers in the Corriere della Sera: “Unfortunately, I saw two drivers who seem to be racing for themselves. Charles attacking Lewis on the first lap while the Ferraris were in first and second place; both of them running wide, off the racing line, giving Verstappen the winning move of the entire Sunday. All of this seemed like madness to me. It was even worse than what happened at Monza and a lack of respect toward those who finally gave both drivers a winning car. I can understand the personal reasons driving Leclerc and Hamilton to battle, but there has to be a limit—and that limit has been crossed.”
