Four red cards and a penalty in stoppage time: The Carabinieri escort Carluccio to the locker room

AS Sport

Bisceglie suffered its fourth consecutive loss, falling to Gladiator in a bitter defeat in the match for Matchday 11 of Group H in Serie D. At the “Ventura,” the visitors prevailed 2-1 thanks to a penalty kick converted by Romano in the 94th minute, at the end of a particularly hard-fought and tense match.

The home team had taken the lead midway through the first half with a goal by Lopez, before conceding the equalizer scored by Liguori. Just when the match seemed destined to end in a draw, Romano’s penalty kick in stoppage time sealed Gladiator’s comeback. It was an extremely tense match, featuring no fewer than four red cards: Bisceglie finished with eight men after Gatto, Lagonigro, and Hernaiz were sent off, while Orefice was sent off for the visitors.

There was significant protest at the end of the match directed at referee Carluccio from Abruzzo: the Carabinieri escorted him to the locker room.
