The new partnership between Jannik Sinner and Magnus Norman has also earned praise from Stan Wawrinka. The Swiss player, a three-time Grand Slam champion, is very familiar with the Swedish coach’s qualities, having worked with him during one of the most important phases of his own career. In an interview with *La Gazzetta dello Sport*, he unhesitatingly endorsed the Italian No. 1’s decision to turn to Norman following the end of his partnership with Darren Cahill.

For Wawrinka, this is a particularly wise choice, especially given where Sinner is in his career. The South Tyrolean is already at the top of world tennis and doesn’t need to revolutionize his game, but he can still work on the details that make the difference in the most important matches.

“Jannik made a great choice. He’s already the best in the world, so it’s not about changing his game, even though he’ll continue to focus on the path he’s been following for the past four years,” explained the Swiss player. According to Wawrinka, Norman’s added value lies primarily in his ability to address the less visible aspects of performance: “He’s very skilled at picking up on the small details and working on the mental aspect—how to stay calm and clear-headed in decisive moments.”

A contribution that could prove invaluable in further enriching Sinner’s trophy case. “He brings a fresh perspective and a wealth of Grand Slam experience. I believe he can help Sinner continue to grow and keep his hunger for victory alive—which is the hardest thing to do when you’re at the top,” added Wawrinka.

The Swiss player speaks from firsthand experience. Under Norman’s guidance, he won three Grand Slam titles, triumphing at the 2014 Australian Open, the 2015 French Open, and the 2016 U.S. Open. This journey has allowed him to gain firsthand insight into the Swedish coach’s approach, and he particularly appreciates his interpersonal skills.
