Naples: Noa Lang Met with Boos Even Though He’s One of the Best—Here’s What Happened

Tense moments at the Maradona Stadium during the match between Napoli and Lazio: Allegri’s attacking winger, Noa Lang, was met with a barrage of boos from the Neapolitan fans, despite being one of the best players on the field for the Azzurri.
The incident occurred during the first half: the Dutch forward, one of Napoli’s standout performers, sparked the anger of the Campania supporters with a gesture and a remark directed at the crowd. The 1999-born player put a hand to his ear and then said, “I can’t hear you, I can’t hear you,” evidently urging the fans to chant louder. DAZN reported this.
The crowd interpreted this as a provocation, took offense, and began booing him every time he touched the ball. In the tense atmosphere, Napoli fans also targeted President Aurelio De Laurentiis: several protest chants were directed at him.
The backlash against the president comes at the end of a particularly turbulent few days for the Azzurri. On the eve of the match, De Laurentiis had Massimiliano Allegri’s press conference unexpectedly canceled, just five minutes before the scheduled time and with journalists already present in the press room at Castel Volturno. According to *La Gazzetta dello Sport*’s account, the decision was reportedly based on statements made by Politano, McTominay, and Højlund after the heavy defeat against Porto, which allegedly highlighted tensions in the locker room. On social media, however, the president had said there was “no issue,” explaining that any distractions needed to be avoided during training camp.
