Como market, ds Ludi does not hold back on Nico Paz

The future of Nico Paz continues to be the central issue at Como, but the latest words of sporting director Carlalberto Ludi have brought back a breath of optimism among the biancoblù fans. Speaking at the microphones of Radio Radio Lo Sport, the executive extinguished rumors of an imminent farewell, stressing that the club’s will and that of the Argentine fantasist are, at the moment, in total alignment. “The chances of him staying with us are high,” said Ludi, highlighting how the bond between the 2004 class and the Larian environment is more solid than ever, despite the interest of top European clubs and the approach of the World Cup.

The real ace up Como’s sleeve seems to be the extraordinary sporting season that Cesc Fabregas’ team is leading. A possible qualification to European competitions, and in particular to the Champions League, would be the decisive incentive to keep the talented Argentine in Italy for another season. According to Ludi, offering Nico Paz the continental showcase with the biancoblù jersey would allow him to continue his path of growth in a protected but highly competitive environment, pushing away, at least for now, the temptation of an immediate jump to a big.

In the background, however, remains the looming shadow of Real Madrid. In fact, the Blancos hold a buy-back clause set at only 9 million euros for the summer of 2026, a derisory sum for a player whose market value has now skyrocketed beyond 60 million. Although from Spain’s Marca side, Florentino Perez’s exercise of the option is taken for granted, Ludi said he was calm: “We are not afraid that he might leave us.”

Como’s plan is clear: to leverage the technical project and the Argentine’s brilliant run in these seasons at the Lombard club to convince him to postpone his return to Madrid by 12 months. Staying for another season at Como (with a possible Champions League qualification) would allow the talented Argentine to tread international fields and continue his path of growth, before the big jump to a top club.

The ball now passes to the field: if Como were to hit the historic Champions League milestone, Nico Paz’s stay would become much more than a mere suggestion. While waiting for Real Madrid’s moves, Como fans are enjoying the moment, aware that the future of their jewel will depend as much on European glory as on the firm will of a club that is no longer afraid to dream big.
