Italy is out of the World Cup again for the third consecutive edition after losing on penalties to Bosnia. National team coach Gennaro Gattuso portrays disappointment after the defeat: “These boys did not deserve such a drubbing for their determination and commitment. We struggled, we put passion and played in ten from the 40th minute. We’re sad, it hurts and I’m proud of the team but that’s soccer.”

“We were in the trenches If I get pricked with a pin, not a drop of blood comes out: that really hurts. My future? This is not the time to talk about it, it’s not important: all that matters now is that we don’t go to the World Cup for the umpteenth time. I apologize for not making it.”

Among the Azzurri, Leonardo Spinazzola spoke: “I still can’t believe we went out like this, after a game in 10. With our teeth we took it to penalties, we could have scored 3/4 goals and really it’s a big disappointment for everyone. The Italian children will see another World Cup without Italy. It’s sorry to see the young people crying, I hope they will have many in the future.”

“We knew it would be difficult in 10, but we had chances. Useless to talk, really huge sorrow. Last chance? For me for sure, sorry for all of Italy.”
