Alessandro Bastoni, Nerazzurri fans make appeal to Chivu ahead of Inter v Roma

For Alessandro Bastoni, these are not easy times: in mid-February, he was overwhelmed by criticism for the incident involving him with Pierre Kalulu during Inter-Juventus, and in subsequent matches he has not always been lucid. The glaring example of the moment the Azzurro defender is going through is represented by the expulsion he received with the national team during the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After the red card he received from referee Clément Turpin Bastoni was attacked harshly on social networks and someone went too far and turned to insults. On Instagram the player was forced to limit the comments on his profile and with him his wife Camilla.
In the last few hours many Inter fans have launched an appeal to Cristian Chivu asking him to deploy Alessandro Bastoni as a starter and with the captain’s armband in Sunday’s match against Roma. A signal that, according to the Nerazzurri people, would help the defender to overcome this difficult moment.

Intervening on the frequencies of Radio Nerazzurra, Beppe Bergomi spoke this way about Bastoni: “What have we put this guy through? He is a friend, I see him sometimes at basketball games and I love him to death. The mistake was in the barrel, what did this one go through for month and a half? They told him everything and more, now for his sake he will have to leave Italy. We are losing an extraordinary talent, one of the best defenders for modern soccer, he too has his merits and his flaws.”

“Ettore Messina, one of the most successful coaches, said he had to quit because he couldn’t handle the media pillorying on social media. Ettore Messina, think 26-year-old boys. I understand that he made a mistake, but enough is enough. I am also very sorry for Inter but I think for his sake he will have to find accommodation abroad, look what I come to say,” Bergomi concluded.
