Summer night to forget for the Los Angeles Lakers, swept in Oklahoma City by the Oklahoma City Thunder and especially in concern for Luka Doncic. In the third quarter, the Slovenian (already struggling with a pain in his left leg blamed in the end of the first half and with his team down by 32 points) stopped while trying to overcome the marking of Jalen Williams. A choice that, pending clinical examinations, is now likely to weigh heavily on the Lakers’ season finale.

In the other games, the Charlotte Hornets (41-36) outscored the Phoenix Suns (42-35) 127-107 at home, consolidating their position in the play-in zone in the East. The third quarter was decisive, with Miles Bridges the top scorer with 25 points. There is no stopping the Detroit Pistons (56-21), who beat the Minnesota Timberwolves (46-30) 113-108. Without Anthony Edwards, Minnesota came close to hitting the jackpot but succumbed in the final stretch against a more solid Detroit.

Outside blow for the Cleveland Cavaliers (48-29), who beat the Golden State Warriors (36-41) 118-111. Third consecutive loss for Golden State, while Cleveland regained success thanks in part to Donovan Mitchell’s 25 points. Home success also for the Portland Trail Blazers (40-38), who overcome the New Orleans Pelicans (25-52) 118-106. The Blazers controlled the game and withstood the opponent’s comeback in the final, centering their third win in a row, dragged by Jrue Holiday (27 points and seven threes).

The program was closed by the San Antonio Spurs (59-18) away win, beating the Los Angeles Clippers (39-38) 118-99. Tenth consecutive win for the Spurs, who put the Thunder’s own first place in the West in their sights. Kawhi Leonard’s 24 points were not enough for the Clippers, while San Antonio showed depth even without Victor Wembanyama.
