Italy in disarray: Carlo Ancelotti’s name is invoked

Carlo Ancelotti new coach of Italy after the World Cup? After yet another rainbow failure in Bosnia, the Azzurri are looking for a new point of reference, and the choice could fall on the coach from Reggiolo, Brazil’s current technical commissioner.

Ancelotti will face the World Cup for the first time in his career as a coach, and he has a contract with the Seleçao expiring this summer, right at the end of the rainbow review in Canada, the United States and Mexico. A contract renewal until 2030 is already ready for the Emilian coach (the former Milan and Real coach himself has admitted this), but much will depend on how the Greenoro’s adventure in North America goes.

The decision may not come until late summer, however, and the FIGC may not wait that long to decide on a new coach. The June friendlies will be entrusted to a ferryman, in all likelihood Silvio Baldini, but the federation wants to define the team’s technical swim route as soon as possible in order to turn over a new leaf for good.

In the meantime, several personalities from the soccer world are sponsoring Carletto. Among them is Fifa agent Claudio Anellucci to 1 Station Radio: “It’s not an immediate project, also because by now you’ve missed the World Cup. I would take a coach to ferry, do internships, work on young people, and then go and get Carlo Ancelotti after the World Cup. In the national team you don’t need a coach, you need a selector. Someone who chooses the best and builds a path.”

On the same wavelength Sky journalist Fabio Caressa: “Let’s wait until the World Cup is over and get Ancelotti. He’s been busy three times when we could use him. But right now I don’t think anyone would back out. I would wait until the end of the World Cup for Ancelotti, heaven forbid you get the World Champion coach….”
