Conegliano aims for encore in game 2 of the Scudetto final against Milan

Numia Vero Volley Milano

The Scudetto final will turn on at Allianz Cloud, where Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. is staged game 2 between Numia Vero Volley Milano and Prosecco Doc A. Carraro Imoco Conegliano. After the tie-break success of the Venetian women in game-1, Milan is called to react in front of an already sold-out arena to stay in the race for the title.

Spurred by the home crowd, Paola Egonu and her teammates know they have the weapons to put the reigning champions, already beaten twice in the season between the Supercup and the regular season, in a difficult situation. To succeed, however, they will need a top-level performance, starting with the wall-defense system, the true strength of the Milanese team in these playoffs. The approach will be decisive: Milan will have to start strong and prevent Conegliano from imposing its pace.

The guests will rely again on Isabelle Haak, absolute protagonist of game-1 with 28 points, to break through the opponent’s wall. On the Milanese side, the condition of Egonu, who came out with cramps in the last match, remains to be evaluated. Also important will be the contribution of the bands Khalia Lanier and Rebecca Piva, called to ensure balance between attack and coverage. At the center, the Anna Danesi-Hena Kurtagic pair will have to contain the Gialloblù offensive solutions, after having already engraved at the wall in match-1.

For Milan, in the fourth Scudetto final in its history, there are no margins for error: a victory is needed to continue chasing a tricolor that has never been won. The court factor could prove decisive, as already seen in the semifinal win over Ekaterina Antropova’s Savino del Bene Scandicci, overcome in four games. Now, however, the level rises again: to keep the series alive, the best possible version of Milan will be needed.
