Juventus, Champions League sprint: math and combinations against Luciano Spalletti

Only one round to the end of the championship. Juventus is awaiting the Derby della Mole. Numbers in hand, the hopes of grabbing one of the two passes still available to access the next Champions League are really slim: mathematics and combinations not very favorable for Luciano Spalletti.

As known, at the moment the Bianconeri are sixth in the standings at 68 points. They have the same points as Como but at fault in the direct clashes with the Larians. Ahead are Milan and Roma, both at +2 on the Old Lady. Clearly, they need the Rossoneri and Giallorossi not to win, respectively with Cagliari and Hellas Verona, to at least get to the table and do the math.

In the event of a tied finish with Milan and Roma, Juventus would be ahead, not Como. With a hypothetical three-way finish (Milan, Roma and Juventus), the Bianconeri would be in the Champions League. If there was also Como in the lot of the three, Luciano Spalletti’s team would end up in the Europa League.

If, on the other hand, all four teams, i.e. Milan, Roma, Juventus and Como, finished tied on points, the avulse ranking would see Milan ahead of everyone, followed by Como, Juventus and Roma. Again, the Bianconeri would play in the Europa League next year. In short, Juventus needs to win at home to Torino and make sure that everything turns out right but, on paper, they are other favorites to go to the Champions League.
