Marc Marquez is still struggling with recovery after double surgery on his right shoulder and right foot, performed in Madrid following a heavy crash in the Le Mans Sprint. Despite this, the Spanish star will be present this weekend at the Mugello Italian Grand Prix with the intention of returning to the track and assessing his physical condition ahead of the continuation of the 2026 MotoGP World Championship.

“The recovery is following the planned program. In the last few days I have returned to regular training and the objective of the weekend will be above all to understand what my real sensations are on the Desmosedici GP and to verify my physical condition,” the nine-time world champion explained to Ducati’s official channels. “Both surgeries were successful, but we are proceeding with the utmost caution and the last medical checks on the track will also be crucial.”

Márquez went on to emphasize the special bond with the Tuscan track: “Mugello is an extraordinary circuit, although very physically demanding. The support of the Ducati fans will definitely be an extra motivation to give our best.” Before he can take to the track, however, the Spanish rider will have to get the final go-ahead from the MotoGP doctors during scrutineering scheduled for Thursday.
