Valorugby brings the Oval Ball Scudetto to Reggio Emilia for the first time. In the final of Rugby Serie A Élite 2025-2026, played on the eightieth anniversary of the Italian Republic at the Plebiscito in Padua, the Reggio Emilia lineup overcame the hosts Petrarca Rugby with a clear 27-5 victory, graduating as Italian champions for the first time and officially inserting their name in the roll of honor of national rugby.

For the Emilia club, this is the crowning achievement of a historic season, in which before the Tricolor had also come the Italian Cup, in addition to first place in the regular season. With this success, Valorugby picks up the legacy of Rugby Rovigo, champions in the 2024-2025 season, and establishes itself as a new force in the national movement.

It was not enough for Petrarca to take the lead at 16′ with Scagnolari’s goal, unconverted, for the provisional 5-0. From there came goals by Milano at 28′, Resino at 34′ and Leituala at 40′ (all converted by Hugo) for a 21-5 lead at halftime, while in the second half the seal came from the penalty spot with free kicks scored again by Hugo at 56′ and 69′.

Born in 1945 as Sembre Avanti, which became Rugby Reggio in 1948 and Valorugby Emilia in 2018, the Emilia club experienced its first season in the top flight in 2011-2012 after acquiring the sporting title from GranDucato Parma. This year’s was the tenth consecutive season among the ‘big boys,’ crowned with the tricolor won by Marcello Violi’s men.
