Fortitudo Bologna is wasting no time. Putting behind them the elimination in the A2 Series playoffs at the hands of Scaligera Basket, the white-blue club has already started building the roster for the 2026‑2027 season, and the first piece to be settled is one of the most delicate, the one related to the role of point guard.

The profile identified by the management is clear: an experienced director, used to managing rhythms and ready to take big responsibilities in A2. The Effe’s goal is to give continuity to a project that is avowedly aiming at promotion and, as of today, the circle is tightened around two names.

The first is that of Alessandro Zanelli, leaving Dinamo Sassari after his contract expires. The alternative is instead David Cournooh, expiring with Germani Brescia. ‘La Prealpina’ confirmed the Bolognese club’s interest, pointing out, however, that the competition for the Italo-Ghanaian is more nourishing: several A2 teams and at least a couple of A1 ones have in fact already sounded the ground.

Zanelli, class of 1992 who grew up in the then Benetton Treviso, comes from the bitterness of relegation with Dinamo Sassari and is ready to get back into the game in another reality. Cournooh, two years older, would instead return to Bologna: in the 2012‑2013 season he played for Biancoblù, the club that in that year (and the one before) kept Effe’s presence alive in the professional leagues after the bankruptcy of the original Fortitudo, rebuilt after various vicissitudes just in 2013.
