Milan, the first reinforcement may come from Real Madrid

The second half of the season and the failure to qualify for the Champions League have caused a real earthquake at Milan. Gerry Cardinale has decided to wipe the slate clean by torpedoing coach Massimiliano Allegri and managers Giorgio Furlani, Igli Tare and Geoffrey Moncada and now, together with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, must rebuild the structure to start again.

The most quoted option at the moment sees Oliver Glasner at the team’s helm and Ralf Rangnick in the role of technical director. The current technical commissioner of the Austrian national team, which is engaged in the World Cup that will begin very soon, could bring David Alaba to Milan.

The experienced defender is expiring his contract with Real Madrid, and Florentino Perez, fresh from re-election, does not seem intent on retaining him. In recent seasons, the former Bayern Munich man has had several injuries but his great wealth of experience could be useful for Milan to restart next season.

As for the outgoing market, in addition to Rafa Leao, Mike Maignan could also say goodbye. The very strong French goalkeeper at the end of January had been convinced by Massimiliano Allegri to renew his contract until 2031 but the Livorno coach’s farewell and the failure to qualify for the Champions League could convince him to make a change.

Chelsea is monitoring Maignan’s situation with great interest: the Blues tried to buy him already last summer but failed but it is easy to imagine that they will decide to make another attempt in a few weeks.
