Udinese: The Zaniolo Situation Has Been Resolved—The Numbers

Udinese and Nicolò Zaniolo have reached an agreement. After the recent turbulent weeks, the Friuli-based club and the former Inter and Roma forward have finally agreed to renew the player’s contract, and he will remain with the Bianconeri through 2029.

Zaniolo, who had also missed Tuesday’s training session, will leave for Udinese’s training camp on Wednesday. Peace has thus been restored between the player and the club: “Udinese Calcio announces that it has signed a new contract with Nicolò Zaniolo. The agreement is valid through June 30, 2029, with an option for an additional season. The club and Nicolò are pleased to continue their journey together, reaffirming their mutual ambitions and strengthening their shared commitment to achieving new and shared successes,” the statement reads.

According to rumors, Zaniolo has reportedly signed a contract worth 1.8 million euros per season, including bonuses. The situation had seen moments of high tension in recent weeks. The main sticking point concerned his salary: according to the player’s entourage, represented by agent Claudio Vigorelli, the loan transfer from Galatasaray last summer had been finalized in the very last minutes of the transfer window, leaving no time to agree on a salary adjustment to be applied in the event of a permanent transfer.

The parties had therefore decided to postpone the discussion until a later date, but when Udinese exercised the purchase option—paying 5 million euros to the Turkish club and guaranteeing 50% of any future resale proceeds—salary negotiations were not reopened, causing discontent among the player’s entourage. The situation had inevitably attracted the attention of several clubs. Milan, Juventus, and Napoli had been monitoring the developments with interest, ready to take advantage of a potential breakdown in negotiations.
