Milan Transfer Market: Ruben Amorim’s Plans for Francesco Camarda Are Already Clear
Milan Transfer News: Francesco Camarda has already fully won over Ruben Amorim. The new Rossoneri coach had nothing but praise for the 2008-born forward after his two-goal performance in a friendly against Celtic, sending a message to the front office that’s too clear to be ignored. “I really believe in him and in our young players, and he needs to stay with us,” he said. “I don’t want to dwell on individual players, but I can already say that Camarda will remain with us this season. The team is working hard; the coaching staff wants to get the most out of it. We’re still missing a few pieces, but we have some really promising young players. I’d say I’m happy with everything.”
Camarda’s two-goal performance came in the second half of the friendly in Glasgow, which ended 2-2. Milan had fallen behind by two goals in the first half, thanks to two costly defensive errors, before turning the tide in the second half: Camarda first earned and converted a penalty kick, then scored the equalizer in the 53rd minute with a fine header off an assist from Chukwueze on the right. It was a performance that left its mark, with the young forward also creating two other dangerous chances before his goal.
Amorim’s decision effectively closes a chapter in the transfer market that had been the talk of the town for weeks. Last June, Milan exercised its buy-back option to bring Camarda back to the Rossoneri after a season on loan at Lecce, where the 2008-born forward saw limited playing time and scored just one goal, partly due to an ankle injury. In an official statement, the club had announced the forward’s return effective July 1, 2026, hinting at its intention to evaluate him directly under the new coach.
That evaluation evidently yielded a positive result—and as quickly as possible. In recent weeks, Milan had already rejected approaches from several clubs interested in signing Camarda on loan: among others, clubs such as Cagliari, Monza, Parma, and Sassuolo, as well as some English teams, had expressed interest in him. The Rossoneri management had made it clear that, under no circumstances, would they consider offers with a buyout clause, demonstrating just how much the club believed in the young player’s potential. Now, with Amorim’s statement, any talk of a possible temporary transfer appears to be definitively off the table.
This decision comes as Milan is still in the midst of rebuilding. Amorim is working to trim a roster with too many surplus players—among those set to leave are Estupiñán, Fofana, and Loftus-Cheek, for a potential return of around 45 million euros—while on the signing front, Gonçalo Ramos and Mario Gila have already arrived from Lazio. Gila, in particular, had to leave the field due to a muscle injury during his first appearance of the season, making Camarda’s performance even more valuable in the eyes of the coaching staff.
