US Open: Jannik Sinner Gives a Flat-Out “No”

The organizers of the U.S. Open have released the entry list for the mixed doubles tournament at the U.S. Grand Slam, which—just like in 2025—is packed with stars and will also see top-ranked players face off against specialists in the discipline. However, just like last year, Jannik Sinner will not be participating: the Italian, who had already missed last year’s edition due to a minor physical issue, has decided not to enter the tournament at all in order to focus on the singles competition—a goal he is absolutely determined not to miss. Also absent will be Carlos Alcaraz (who is taking it easy due to a wrist injury), Ben Shelton, and Alex de Minaur.

The tournament will take place over three days, from August 24 to 26, and will be primarily an exhibition event. Among the favorite pairs will be Sara Errani and Errani Vavassori, the defending champions. Also representing Italy will be Flavio Cobolli, paired with his friend Belinda Bencic.

Of particular interest are the duo of Aryna Sabalenka and Novak Djokovic, and the pair of Elena Rybakina and Taylor Fritz. Former world No. 1 Iga Swiatek will play with Casper Ruud, while Mirra Andreeva and Andrey Rublev will form an all-Russian pairing. In recent weeks, there had been talk of a possible boycott by top players in protest over the prize money issue, but the matter has been resolved.
