Luca Vencato: A Decision from the Heart After a Very Long Hiatus

Leonessa Brescia, the club that carries on the sporting legacy of Brescia basketball and will compete in the upcoming Serie B Nazionale season, welcomes back Luca Vencato, a point guard born in 1995 who was born and raised in Brescia. He has decided to return to his hometown after a long journey filled with significant milestones and marked by a difficult final stretch—including a year of inactivity to recover from knee surgery.

The club introduced him on Wednesday as a key piece in Marco Calvani’s new project, given his experience and long tenure in Serie A2. “A pure point guard with impressive physicality who will keep the team running smoothly,” emphasized club president Graziella Bragaglio, noting how the Leonessa’s roster is taking shape day by day.

Having come up through the Lions Basket School in Brescia, Vencato made his debut at a very young age with Casalpusterlengo, where he remained until 2016. He then spent three seasons in Mantua, another three in Ferrara, and two years in Turin, where he posted solid numbers: double-digit scoring averages and 6 assists per game. In 2024, after a stint in Orzinuovi, he moved to Fortitudo Bologna, where he played a total of 16 games across the regular season, play-ins, and playoffs.

His last official game was in that year’s postseason, against Cantù. Then came a hiatus due to knee surgery in the summer of 2025, followed by a long rehabilitation process, with a specific program developed in collaboration with Carlo Voltolini and David Moss to help him regain mobility. Now he’s embarking on a new adventure with the new club in the city where he was born and raised.
