Rino Gattuso kicks a player out of Lazio’s practice session

Clash on the field at Lazio. During Thursday morning’s training session in Formello, Lazio coach Gennaro Gattuso sent Dutch midfielder Kenneth Taylor off the field. Tensions skyrocketed during the tactical drill the Calabrian coach was leading, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

At one point, Taylor stopped after being hit by a teammate, irritating Gattuso, who considered it a simple tackle: the former Milan coach urged the player to keep working without complaining too much. Instead of continuing, Taylor responded to the coach, sparking a spat that ultimately led Gattuso to send the Dutchman off the field. Training continued and concluded as scheduled without Taylor, and the two are expected to resolve the matter immediately in the coming hours to avoid further fallout.

Taylor, born in 2002, joined Lazio last January and has played 17 league matches for the Biancocelesti. He has made five appearances for the Dutch senior national team. He is under contract through 2030, and his market value is estimated at around 25 million euros.

Taylor joined Lazio during the winter transfer window, acquired from Ajax for nearly 17 million euros as part of a major squad-building campaign that also brought Petar Ratkov, Adrian Przyborek, and Daniel Maldini to Formello on loan from Atalanta. This group of new signings was intended to replace the high-profile departures of Matteo Guendouzi, sold to Fenerbahçe for 28 million, and Valentin Castellanos, who moved to West Ham.
