Turin Transfer Market: Negotiations Underway for the Promotion Hero

With the defense sorted out and Fitz-Jim signed for the midfield, Torino continues to work on finding another reinforcement for the midfield of Ignazio Abate’s squad. The Granata have begun negotiations for Ilias Koutsoupias, a Greek player born in 2001.

Koutsoupias was one of Frosinone’s key players last season, playing a pivotal role in the team’s promotion to Serie A with 8 goals and 4 assists. Having come up through the youth systems of OFI Crete, Virtus Entella, and Bologna, he made his professional debut with the Chiavari-based team in 2020. After stints with Ternana, Benevento, Bari, and Catanzaro, he moved to Frosinone, where he finally saw regular playing time and proved his worth. To make the big leap to Serie A, the 25-year-old Greek player could thus switch teams.

His transfer fee is estimated at around 7 million euros, and Torino will decide in the coming hours whether or not to make the move.  In recent weeks, Torino has already made some key signings on defense with the arrivals of Eray Comert and Pietro Comuzzo, in addition to the acquisition of Dutch playmaker Kian Fitz-Jim for the midfield, signed for approximately 4 million euros after beating out competition from Porto.

It’s not just the midfield: Torino is also closely monitoring the attacking market. Among the players being monitored by Torino’s management is Sebastiano Esposito, a forward born in 2002 who is owned by Cagliari and is valued at around 15 million euros. However, there is fierce competition for his services, with Como ready to enter the fray thanks to its substantial financial resources.
