Don Mazzi died at the age of 96

Don Antonio Mazzi, an educator and activist and one of the best-known figures in the Italian volunteer sector, has died at the age of 96. More than 40 years ago, Don Mazzi founded Exodus, the organization that supports young people in their battle against drug addiction.
He passed away at his historic home within Lambro Park in Milan. The priest’s funeral will be held on Monday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at the Church of Sant’Ambrogio in Milan.
Don Mazzi had become well-known in Italy for his appearances on various TV shows, including *Domenica In* and *Porta a Porta*. Throughout his life, he wrote dozens of books and was always committed to issues of education, family, and youth distress. He contributed to newspapers and magazines including *Il Corriere della Sera*, *Famiglia Cristiana*, *La Stampa*, and *Il Giorno*, and received three honorary degrees in education from the universities of Palermo, Lecce, and Macerata.
