In August 2021, a young Italian with high hopes and boundless potential—Jannik Sinner—won the Washington Open, the first ATP 500 title of his career. He achieved this at age 19, proving his immense talent and taking his first real step toward excellence.

Five years later, another 19-year-old is shining in Washington: Rafael Jodar. The Spaniard is captivating everyone. He’s had a fantastic tournament (even defeating Lorenzo Musetti) and now faces Taylor Fritz in the final—his last test before making the leap he desires.

Should he win the tournament, he would emulate Jannik Sinner and, at the same time, come within a step of the Top 10 (to be precise, he would become No. 12 in the ATP rankings).

And to think that, just one year ago, he was ranked No. 478 in the world. The feeling is that Rafael Jodar is significantly raising his stock, to the point that many believe he could reach the level of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. Yet another talent hailing from Spain.
