Jannik Sinner’s journey toward the North American hard-court season included another day of medical checkups. On Friday, the world No. 1 returned to J-Medical in Turin—for the second time in fifteen days—for a series of routine checkups supervised by Dr. Luca Semperboni, team physician and doctor for the Davis Cup national team. No cause for concern, however: this is a necessary step before the final training block leading up to his departure for the United States.

Sinner is carefully preparing every detail ahead of his trip to the U.S.: his participation in the Cincinnati Masters 1000 is currently confirmed, after which it will be time to devote himself body and soul to the U.S. Open, which begins on August 30. The visit to Turin is part of the monitoring process that began after he felt unwell at Roland Garros, when Jannik suddenly found himself running out of energy during the second round—an incident that necessitated a complete overhaul of his physical training regimen.

Immediately after his withdrawal from the tournament in Paris, Sinner spent two days undergoing tests at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan on June 8 and 9, alongside his trainer Umberto Ferrara and the medical staff. Working with Professor Zangrillo’s team, health issues were ruled out and guidelines were established to ensure consistent performance: key factors in this regard include the ability to manage the heat, targeted nutrition and hydration, and meticulous planning of training loads. At Wimbledon, the strategy definitely paid off.

After his triumph in London, Sinner underwent an initial day of checkups at J-Medical on July 15, before flying to Sardinia with his family and girlfriend Laila Hasanovic for a few days of vacation. This was a much-needed break, as mental recovery is also part of the preparation for an athlete who is about to reach 83 weeks as the world No. 1.

Friday’s visit brings things full circle: Sinner is ready for his North American tour, with a defined training plan and his physical condition monitored down to the smallest detail. On Sunday, August 9, he will depart for Cincinnati, where (barring any sudden changes of plans) he will begin his hard-court campaign with the goal of arriving in New York in the best possible condition.
