Before choosing Trabzonspor, Salah had long been targeted by Besiktas, the other major Turkish club. In the end, the Istanbul club shifted its focus to other targets, paving the way for a deal with Trabzonspor, which was able to convince the Egyptian with a more financially attractive offer.
