He ate (a little) too casually—and even blasphemously: a six-match suspension

Campobasso coach Devis Mangia has received a severe suspension following the incident that occurred during the Rossoblù’s match in Sestri Levante—the stadium where Vado plays its home games—a match refereed by Andrea Terribile of Bassano del Grappa.

The former Under-21 national team coach has been suspended for six matches “for having, in the 31st minute of the second half, engaged in seriously disrespectful conduct that resulted in physical contact and verbal abuse toward the fourth official, and for uttering repeated profanities, as: A) in an attempt to get him to stop play for a player who had fallen to the ground, he rose from the bench, ran toward him, grabbed him by the arm, tugged at him repeatedly, and directed disrespectful words at him to contest his decision, while uttering repeated blasphemous expressions; B) he repeated the aforementioned behavior because, after play had been stopped, when asked to sit on the bench, he uttered further disrespectful words toward the fourth official and another blasphemous expression; C) upon being notified of the ejection, he approached the referee in an aggressive manner, pointing a finger at him and uttering threatening words toward him.”

“Having assessed the severity of the conduct in question and the overall circumstances of the conduct pursuant to Art. 13, paragraph 2, of the C.G.S., and considering that the penalty is set at a minimum of eight match days when physical contact occurs with match officials, and taking into account the continuation of the conduct, the extent and imposition of the sanction in accordance with Articles 4, 36(1)(b), 37, and 39 of the C.G.S., and having applied the principles set forth in Decision 0102/CSA 2021–2022. The Vado-Campobasso match ended 1-0 in favor of the Molise team thanks to a goal by Stoppa and a penalty kick saved by Spurio from Vita in stoppage time.
