Milan Transfer Market: A Great Opportunity in January—A Potential Free Signing

Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham has had a rather turbulent start to the season: despite a spectacular summer transfer campaign, the Spurs have managed to earn just 2 points in their first 4 league games and have yet to score a goal. The situation is further complicated by the Richarlison issue.

The Brazilian striker has a contract with Tottenham through 2028 but no longer wants to play for the London club and has long been asking for a transfer. After initial resistance, the Spurs agreed, but both a move to Everton and one to Vasco da Gama fell through. In both instances, Richarlison failed to gel with his new teams and thus remained at Tottenham.

Recently, Roberto De Zerbi was very clear on the matter: “The situation remains the same. He won’t play in either the Premier League or the Carabao Cup. I’m well aware of the efforts the club has made to convince him to stay. I don’t know whether his time here is over or not. That’s not within my purview.”

In England, they haven’t ruled out the possibility that Richarlison could reach an agreement with Tottenham for a mutual termination: the player could secure more favorable terms with his next team, and the Spurs would be rid of an unhappy player and a salary of over 6 million pounds per season (including bonuses).

Should the opportunity arise to sign Richarlison on a free transfer, Milan might give it some thought: currently, Ruben Amorim has only Gonçalo Ramos and Francesco Camarda as forwards, and a third addition would be extremely useful, especially with the Europa League matches coming up.
