Here is Roberto Mancini’s new Italy: the 34 players called up to the Azzurri, 9 making their debuts
Italian national team head coach Roberto Mancini has released the list of 34 players called up for the first four Nations League matches that the Azzurri will play starting next week.
Italy will face Belgium at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Friday, September 25; Turkey in Bursa on Monday, September 28; France in Saint-Denis on Friday, October 2; and Turkey in Bologna on Monday, October 5.
There are nine new faces among the players called up by the Jesi-born coach: Bologna goalkeeper Massimo Pessina, Brentford defender Michael Kayode, Cagliari midfielder Alessandro Romano, Monza defender Eddy Kouadio, Roma defender Daniele Ghilardi, and Sporting midfielder Issa Doumbia; up front, Sassuolo’s Sebastiano Esposito (who joins his brother Pio), Napoli’s Antonio Vergara, and Nuremberg’s Mohamed Alì Zoma.
The list also includes Daniel Maldini, who has been at the center of a controversial situation in recent days, and Nicolò Zaniolo, who returns to the national team after more than two years.
