Cagliari and Italian national team forward Daniel Maldini tested negative for drugs following a traffic accident in Milan in which five people sustained minor injuries. The test, conducted at Niguarda Hospital, showed results “below the cutoff limit” for drugs.

As reported by ANSA, the findings from the investigation conducted by local police—which will now be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office—indicate that the results “are not consistent” with driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The son of a famous father is expected at Coverciano for the Azzurri’s training camp: Head Coach Roberto Mancini has made no secret of the fact that he is counting on him heavily. The player stood out on the last day of the league season, scoring the winning goal for the Sardinians against Udinese.

Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini commented on the matter one last time on Radio Anch’io: “My stance is that of a parent: when you go out for a drink, it’s always better not to drive.
