Treviso: Pasquini Explains the Decision on Anigbogu

Ed Croswell’s injury—he underwent surgery on his left shoulder after the exhibition game against Reggio Emilia—forced Treviso back into the transfer market, where the team sought and identified a replacement for the American big man. The Venetian club has decided to sign Christopher Ike Anigbogu, born in 1998, who joins Nutribullet after playing for Vanoli Cremona. The player will wear jersey number 13.

General Manager Federico Pasquini explained the decision as follows: “We liked Anigbogu’s energy, physicality, and presence in the paint—all qualities we’ll need. He’s an extremely motivated young man who plays with great hunger and drive, and above all, does a lot of the ‘dirty work.’ We went with him without much hesitation.”

The American should be immediately available to coach Marcelo Nicola. Last season in Cremona, he averaged 6.4 points per game and 6 rebounds in his first year in Italy. Croswell has already begun his recovery and is expected to return next February.

Before decisively turning to Anigbogu, the Treviso club had also evaluated other options on the big man market. Among the players being monitored was Bryant Dunston, formerly of Olimpia Milano, Varese, and Virtus Bologna, who had participated in preseason training with Olympiacos and who, according to reports in *Nuova Venezia*, had in the meantime turned down an offer from Pallacanestro Trieste.
