Luca Marini took a big risk: the words of Valentino Rossi’s brother

Luca Marini, a Honda rider and Valentino Rossi’s brother, said after the Austrian Grand Prix at the Spielberg circuit that he had a big scare on the track during the race when he was struck in the chest by debris.

“I saw a blue piece that suddenly hit me as I was braking for Turn 4. I think it was Quartararo’s wing. I don’t know if he made contact with anyone on the straight between Turns 3 and 4. I saw the wing coming at me; I tried to avoid it, but it hit me in the chest.”

“I was in a lot of pain through those two turns, then I tried not to think about it and to focus on riding,” continued the Honda rider, who fortunately didn’t crash. “I’m fine, but at first I was a little worried. I just have a little pain in my chest now, but it could have been much, much worse,” according to Eurosport.

Marini finished 14th: “I struggled a lot with this rear tire; I had a lot of problems with the rear temperature and a lot of wheel spin. I can’t manage it any better than this, because I’m not opening the throttle as I should; I’m keeping the bike completely upright, I’m not using the downforce adjuster, and I’m trying to keep the temperature as low as possible. It was a really tough weekend.”
