Christian Horner gives Ferrari fans something to dream about: a return to F1 isn’t impossible

Christian Horner helped build Red Bull’s dominance in Formula 1, but since last season he has, despite himself, become a spectator of the circus. His desire to return to the pit wall, however, does not seem to be particularly strong. There is only one team for which the former team principal would be willing to make an exception: Ferrari.

“I spent twenty-one years on the pit wall, and at this stage in my life, I don’t need to go back there. There’s only one team for which I’d make an exception—even if it meant giving up a stake in the team. Ferrari is the biggest name in F1; it’s the dream. It’s the sleeping giant,” Horner told The Times at the launch of his autobiography, *Drive*.

Horner was ousted from Red Bull last summer following allegations related to an incident that had already rocked the team in early 2024. Despite leaving the team, his name continues to circulate in the paddock, and Horner himself seems aware of this: “If people are still talking about me after 14 months away from F1, it means I wasn’t that unpopular,” the former team principal added.

A statement that inevitably reignites rumors about his possible return to the F1 circuit and, above all, leaves the door open to Maranello. For now, it’s just speculation, but Horner’s message is clear: if there were a team capable of convincing him to return, that team would be Ferrari.
