Jannik Sinner Finds Comfort in Laila Hasanovic’s Arms; Paparazzi Go Wild in Milan

Jannik Sinner will not be competing in the ATP 500 in Beijing. On the day his withdrawal was announced, the world No. 1 traveled to Milan to join his girlfriend, Laila Hasanovic, who had already been in the Lombard capital for several days for Milan Fashion Week events—and, in particular, to attend the Gucci fashion show, as he is the brand’s ambassador.

For Sinner, therefore, his last match played remains the Wimbledon final, which he won against Sascha Zverev. The German player, in fact, has indirectly returned to the forefront of the ATP rankings landscape, as the Italian’s absence from Beijing could further narrow the gap between the two.

Currently, 1,370 points separate Sinner from Zverev, who is second in the world rankings. This gap could narrow in the coming weeks, especially considering the different number of points the two have to defend in the final stretch of the season.

Sinner had, in fact, ended 2025 with a strong showing. Following his triumph in Beijing and an early exit in Shanghai, he went on to win consecutive titles in Vienna, Paris, and at the ATP Finals. These last three events alone account for 3,000 points that the Italian will have to defend.

Zverev, on the other hand, heads into the Asian swing in the opposite situation. In 2025, he had earned just 110 points across the tournaments in this phase of the season, leaving him with much more room to increase his total.

Sinner’s withdrawal thus makes the race for the top of the world rankings even more interesting. Zverev will in fact have the opportunity to further close the gap in the coming weeks, while Sinner will have to contend with the numerous points he earned a year ago and must now defend.
