Sofia Goggia Breaks Her Silence: She Sets the Record Straight and Reveals How She’s Feeling

Sofia Goggia has finally broken her silence on social media and spoken about the two viral infections that forced her to interrupt her training in Argentina. On Instagram, the champion from Bergamo took stock of her current situation, addressing her fans.
“Ushuaia 2026 🇦🇷, a short, intense, and challenging trip! I’m very sorry I was forced to return early and had to miss part of my training, even though I’m very happy with how the first week on the slopes went. I’d like to sincerely thank all the doctors at the San Donato Group and all the specialists for the invaluable support they’ve given me since I returned.”
“Now that the truth has come to light and we’ve identified the problem (I had two viral infections that caused ‘unusual’ symptoms), we can move forward with resolving it, but to do so we need time and a lot, a lot of patience… just like always.
I am indeed improving, but I’m still quite weakened at the moment. See you soon… nec recisa recedit (“not even a wound recedes”—Ed.).”
Here is the statement from FISI regarding the Italian skier: “Sofia Goggia has completed a series of in-depth clinical examinations at the La Madonnina Clinic and the IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, which revealed two different viral infections that, combined, have created even more severe physical effects, causing the athlete to be in a state of severe debilitation. Goggia has already begun her recovery program in recent days, developed in collaboration with the FISI Medical Commission chaired by Dr. Andrea Panzeri.”
