Nicolò Zaniolo won’t be able to recover in time: the Udinese forward has left the Azzurri training camp and won’t be available to Roberto Mancini for the next three Nations League matches against Turkey (two games) and France.

The former Roma player, who reported to Coverciano as scheduled, was unable to recover from the muscle injury he sustained in his last league match and has returned to Udine. On Saturday, Zaniolo did not participate in group training and underwent a physical therapy session.

The former Inter player will undergo several tests upon his return to Udine to determine the extent of the injury. His condition will be reevaluated in the coming days, with the hope that he will recover in time for the league’s resumption on October 12 against Torino.

The Italian international had missed the first match of Mancini’s second tenure against Belgium. This is already Zaniolo’s second muscle injury in two months; at the end of August, he was sidelined due to a muscle strain in the biceps femoris of his right thigh.
