Giacomo Ghiardelli didn’t make it: he was only 22 years old. He also played for Juventus.

Unfortunately, Giacomo Ghiardelli did not make it: the young soccer player, born in 2004, battled a serious illness for a long time and passed away on Monday. Having come up through the Alessandria youth system, Giacomo also played for Juventus before transferring to Asti in Serie D.

The Biancorossi club paid tribute to the young man as follows: “The club, the staff, and the entire Biancorossi family extend their deepest condolences to the family of our Giacomo Ghiardelli on his untimely passing. This news leaves us speechless, and the grief affects our entire community. We stand with his family and all those who loved him.”

On Sunday, before the match between Alessandria and Asti, a banner appeared at the Giuseppe Moccagatta Stadium reading ‘Forza Mino’—a beautiful message to show support as he battled his illness.

Alessandria also shared its thoughts on social media: “President Antonio Barani and the entire Alessandria Calcio family remember Giacomo Ghiardelli, who wore the gray jersey, and send their love to his family. Fly high, Mino—you’ll always be in our hearts.”
