Federica Brignone is getting ready to return to the spotlight. FISI has confirmed that the Media Day for the 2026-2027 season will take place in Milan on Friday, October 9, starting at 11 a.m. the Media Day for the 2026–2027 season, has announced that medalists from the 2026 Milan–Cortina Olympic Games and the winners of the 2025–2026 World Cups will be in attendance: Although the Aosta Valley champion’s name is not explicitly mentioned in the announcement, Brignone rightfully belongs in the first group.
The Italian skier was, in fact, one of the standout stars of Milan-Cortina 2026, winning two gold medals in the giant slalom and Super-G (despite the plate and screws in her leg, which she injured in April 2025) and providing some of the most thrilling moments of the entire event, including as the flag-bearer during the opening ceremony.
Interest surrounding her participation is inevitably high. In recent weeks, Brignone has continued to update fans on her recovery, documenting on social media the work she’s been doing at J-Medical in Turin following her surgery in late August to remove the metal implants from her left knee.
The images shared by the star athlete from Valle d’Aosta have shown an increasingly intense rehabilitation regimen, with targeted exercises and steadily increasing workloads. These are important signs for a champion who is working to gradually return to full physical fitness following the serious injury she suffered at the end of the 2024–2025 season.
In recent days, Brignone also brought a smile to her followers’ faces by posting some photos from a short vacation in South Tyrol, accompanied by the caption “First steps on my new leg,” thus confirming the success of the surgery and the sense of confidence surrounding her current phase of recovery.
Media Day could therefore be an important opportunity to get an update on the situation directly from the Italian champion and to hear any news regarding her plans for the coming months. In the background, of course, is the countdown to the 2026–2027 season, with the goal of gradually returning to the highest levels and preparing as best as possible for the World Championships in Crans-Montana, scheduled for February 1–14, 2027.
