Concerns for Julen Guerrero: Athletic Bilbao icon suffers heart attack. He is now out of danger

There is great concern in Bilbao over Julen Guerrero, an absolute icon of Athletic Bilbao in the 1990s and 2000s. The former striker for the Basque team suffered a heart attack last week; he is now recovering and is out of danger. The Spanish daily Marca reported the news.
The Athletic legend, a former Spanish national team player, is currently the general manager of CD Estepona, a Segunda División club, and has been working for the Costa del Sol-based club for over nine months. Aged 52, Guerrero had never had any health problems in the past, but last week he felt ill and was rushed to the hospital.
Now discharged, he is continuing his recovery at home without any complications. Guerrero is the perfect embodiment of a “club icon.” He joined Athletic Bilbao in 1982 at the age of 8, worked his way up through the youth ranks, and made his first-team debut at age 18 in 1992.
He played his entire career in the Rojiblancos’ jersey, becoming the fans’ absolute idol: he played a total of 430 games, scoring 122 goals. With the Spanish national team, he played 41 games, scoring 13 goals.
