Brest-Monza: Probable Lineups for the Friendly Match

Exactly one week after their 3-2 loss to Cremonese, Monza takes the field on Saturday at 6 p.m. for their second friendly match of this break, this time at Stade Francis-Le Blé to face the host team, Brest. For Ivan Juric’s team, this will be an important opportunity to maintain their match rhythm ahead of the league’s resumption, scheduled for October 11 on the road against Lazio.

Although Brest is far from the brilliant results of a couple of seasons ago—which had taken the “Pirates of Brittany” to the Champions League—it remains a major force in French soccer, a fixture in Ligue 1 since 2019. Leading the team from the bench is former goalkeeper Julien Lachuer, now 49, who took over as head coach this season after serving for several years first as goalkeeper coach and then as assistant coach.

Monza, on the other hand, is coached by Ivan Juric, who—after a poor start to the season (aside from advancing twice in the Coppa Italia)—went into the break on the heels of his first league win this season, a 2-1 home victory over Sassuolo, thanks to a brace by Gustavo Varela. The Portuguese player will not be on the field, as he has been called up to his country’s Under-21 national team. Up front, therefore, this presents an opportunity for Cutrone, supported by Ngonge and Colpani in the Croatian coach’s 3-4-2-1 formation.

Probable Lineups

BREST (4-2-3-1): Patouillet; Bourgault, Kanté, Lloris, Locko; Magnetti, Chotard; Versini, Nonge, Mboup; Ajorque. Coach: Lachuer.

MONZA (3-4-2-1): Strajnar; Lucchesi, Antov, Carboni; Birindelli, Foe Ondoa, Akinsanmiro, Mangas; Ngonge, Colpani; Cutrone. Head Coach: Juric.
