San Marino heads into this match against Belarus (kickoff at 6 p.m., the match will be played in Budapest, the capital of Hungary) following Tuesday’s 3-0 loss to Albania—a result that nonetheless showed some improvement over the 7-0 defeat to Finland on the first matchday. The transition to League C—which the team reached for the first time following its promotion—is proving challenging, and the team is still searching for its first goal in this edition of the UEFA Nations League (UNL).

Their recent record shows 15 losses in their last 16 international matches, with 59 goals conceded, but there are still reasons to look forward to this away game with confidence: San Marino’s last victory, in fact, came on the road, against Liechtenstein in November 2024. This time, however, the challenge is greater, considering that Belarus is ranked over 100 places higher than Liechtenstein.

Belarus, too, is still winless and has yet to score a goal in Group C1, but it earned its first point with a 0-0 draw against Finland on Matchday 2. That result came at the end of a closely contested match and represented an improvement over the 2-0 loss to Albania in their opener.

The offense remains an area for improvement, while defensive solidity appears to be one of the strengths of Viktor Goncharenko’s team. In fact, the head coach has lost only one of the six matches he has led the national team in (3W, 2D), while the White Wings have never conceded more than two goals in their last nine games. Belarus, however, continues to grapple with a unique situation, having to play its home games on neutral ground and behind closed doors.
