In Udine, people are rooting for Varese

The rivalry between Cantù and Varese is one of the strongest in all of Italian basketball. They know this well in Udine, too, and so the Bianconeri fans who came to the PalaDesio to support their team in Monday night’s late game against Frank Vitucci’s squad acted accordingly: the chant “Varese, Varese” was one of the most frequently heard.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the FIP Sports Judge issued rulings regarding the Serie A basketball games held on October 3 and 4, which counted toward the second matchday. Three clubs were fined: Virtus Bologna (which defeated Maxima Roma 98–89) received a double fine, while BC Roma (which beat Tortona 108–70) and Napoli (fresh off a 99–93 victory over Reggio Emilia) were also sanctioned.

These are the decisions of the Sports Disciplinary Committee:

VIRTUS BOLOGNA. A fine of 1,200.00 euros for frequent collective insults directed at the referees by the crowd [Art. 27.4bd RG rec., Art. 24.2b RG].

COSTA VIRTUS BOLOGNA. Warning for malfunction of mandatory equipment (game clock, Precision Time System) [Art. 40.1a RG].

BC ROMA S.P.Q.R. Fine of 1,600.00 euros for violations related to safety measures (failure to open the tunnel
leading to the locker room) [Art. 39.3 RG].

NAPOLI BASKET. Fine of 1,200.00 euros for frequent collective insults by the crowd toward the referees [Art. 27.4bd RG (revised), Art. 24.2b RG].
