Jannik Sinner has announced that he will not return to the court before 2027: together with his staff and the medical team treating his knee injury, he has decided to take a conservative approach and end his season early. This was undoubtedly a difficult decision, but one aimed at protecting the Italian player’s career.

In recent months, Jannik Sinner and his staff have shared very little information regarding the extent of the injury and the South Tyrolean’s condition. Even Adriano Panatta is in the dark: “Everyone is asking me about Sinner’s condition,” he told *Corriere dello Sport*. “I understand the curiosity and interest, but honestly, I don’t know…”

“I’m very sorry that Jannik has to end his season here. I’m sure that, together with his staff and especially his doctors, he’s made the wisest decision. Health comes first, and when a physical problem is involved—especially for a top-level athlete—you have to be patient enough to recover properly, to take a break, and not rush things.”

“Jannik is young; he still has many years ahead of him, and I’m convinced he’ll come back stronger than ever. Right now, he just needs to focus on getting better and taking care of himself. I wish him the very best in his recovery and hope to see him back on the court soon,” concluded Adriano Panatta.

In his message to fans, Jannik Sinner didn’t hide his disappointment over a season cut short, but he reiterated his determination to look beyond the immediate future for the sake of his career. “Hi everyone, I wanted to give you a quick update,” he began, almost shyly. “In consultation with the doctors, we’ve decided that my knee needs a course of specific treatments. This means that my 2026 season officially ends here.”

“In recent years, I’ve experienced extraordinary emotions, and the moments I spent in Turin will always hold a special place in my heart,” he explained. “This year will be very different, but right now I have to focus above all on my future and my long-term career. I’ll do everything I can to get back to 100 percent. I want to thank you all now for the support and affection you continue to show me. I hope to see you all back on the field soon.”
