Calzavara reveals what happened with Christon and sets his sights on Trento

Andrea Calzavara, the standout performer in Desio against Cantù, is now setting his sights on Trento, whom they’ll face in Friuli on Saturday night.
“We’ve already faced Trento in the preseason, and that was a game with several ups and downs, both for us and for them. They’re a young team that loves to run a lot, take plenty of shots, and play at a fast pace,” he told Udine’s Gazzettino.
“They rely heavily on the number of scoring opportunities they can create, but they also have some very talented individual players. Our defensive effort will be crucial. We’ll have to be very focused, know their individual strengths well, and try to slow down their pace. At the same time, we’ll need to control the pace of the game ourselves and stay focused for all forty minutes. It’ll take another performance marked by great focus and sacrifice,” he adds.
“You don’t go to play against Cantù thinking it’ll be a walk in the park, especially in an arena that can erupt in a matter of seconds. The coach opted to target Christon, although clearly there are different ways to read and interpret each play. I had to find the right opening, and I managed to do so. It wasn’t an easy situation, but Christon was a player we’d been trying to attack throughout the game. We knew we could try to gain an advantage against him,” he notes, reflecting on Sunday’s valuable victory and the game-winning basket.
