Novak Djokovic scares everyone: “He wants revenge.”
Djokovic approaches Australian Open in great shape
Novak Djokovic big favorite for the Australian Open. According to former tennis champion Wilander, the Serbian star starts ahead of everyone in Melbourne, where number one Alcaraz will be missing instead: “I’ve never seen a tennis player hungrier for revenge than he is in this tournament.”
The crowd is on his side, in Adelaide Nole triumphed and showed that he is in good shape and wants to erase last season’s nasty misadventure with his expulsion from the country: “He is the number one favorite for many, many reasons. I think Djokovic will be welcome wherever he was not allowed to play in 2023. Many people obviously thought the decision was right at the time, but this year is a different story. The surface is perfect for his characteristics. When you play like him you don’t have ups and downs. Plus not everyone is 100 percent ready in Australia. He is always ready,” Wilander told Eurosport.
Nadal will also be in Melbourne: “The challenge has started again. If Djokovic wins, the Slam balance will be 22-22. Nole has to get to 22 before Roland Garros comes in May because Rafa there should start, as usual, favored. I also think it will be tough for everyone else. Daniil Medvedev will most likely be the biggest threat. Of course, Rafa will be there and he will give a hard time.”
