Spal and Ascoli working on midfield swap

The pace of the Serie B soccer market is getting tighter and tighter ahead of the return to the field scheduled for Jan. 14, after the break that began at the end of Boxing Day on Dec. 26.

Spal, which has been linked with former Genoa man Fetfatzidis in recent days, is working with Ascoli on a midfield swap. The Marcheggiani currently occupy the ninth position in the cadetteria standings, while De Rossi’s men are in the rear, in 16th place.

The deal for which the two clubs are interfacing is one that would bring 1996-year-old Federico Proia to Ascoli and 31-year-old Marcel Buchel from Liechtenstein to Ferrara. Proia is still owned by Vicenza, which would be responsible for approving the completion of the deal. Buchel would replace Salvatore Esposito, who moved to Spezia in this January market.
