Valentino Rossi qualified in eighth place in qualifying for the Dubai 24 Hours, the first race of the season for the Doctor, which kicks off on Saturday at 12 p.m. The nine-time motorcycle world champion and his teammates managed to achieve the first goal, which is to finish in the top ten with the BMW M4 GT3, which the Doctor is driving for the first time in an official race. Ahead of everyone was the Mercedes of the team consisting of Axcil Jefferies/Martin Konrad/Fabian Schiller/Luca Stolz

“I have to catch up a little bit with traffic, yellow and red flags, and so on, but still, these are the same situations for everyone,” he explained to Creventic’s microphones. “Let’s say we are not in a great position, but hopefully we can catch up. I am learning a lot from the data collected with the team, but also from my teammates who are among the best drivers. Together we analyze everything and watch videos.”

Experience is important: “These are pretty difficult cars to drive to the max and I still need to figure out some tricks to make a difference. But in general I’m having fun. Audi and BMV are very different, especially in terms of the engine because BMW has a turbo and Audi does not. Among other things on the M4 it is at the front, so the driving changes a lot. I like the BMW, though, and from a certain point of view it seems easier.”
