Alessandro Sibilio disguised as Victor Osimhen
The words of Alessandro Sibilio
“It is said that 2023 is the year of Naples: I also hope to be part of it. And to revive this south, sometimes sidelined a bit and taken lightly. This year Naples has shown that with hard work great goals can be achieved. I also want to achieve big results and maybe celebrate with them. Yes, I am much more than a fan. I have already got the ticket for the Champions League quarterfinals with Milan….” Neapolitan doc, Alessandro Sibilio, is no longer in his skin to celebrate the successes of his favorite team, in the Maradona stadium that also hosts his training sessions, and above all he is ready to return to the track almost a year after the injury that denied him World and European Championships. The date for his debut in the 400 hurdles is there, and the double Tokyo Olympic finalist reveals it in this week’s episode of AthleticsTalk: “May 24, Savona Meeting, like two years ago.”
Tied to his roots, Sibilio’s thoughts are for all those youngsters who find it difficult to train given the lack of facilities: “More can and must be done for facilities in the south, there is a fundamental problem of logistics. I am lucky, I am a high-level athlete and so I can manage. But so many young people cannot train continuously. The movement is there and you have to give everyone a chance to reach their potential.” And when asked if he would like to compete in Savona in his Naples jersey, he replies confidently, “With Osimhen’s it would be an honor….”
